COMING SOON: “Windows to a Better Life: Clarity Changes Everything”

This isn’t a book about windows. It’s a book about clarity.
About the Book
When a less than glorious visit to Manhattan left me spiritually bankrupt, I returned home to Texas broken and searching for purpose. Back in Dallas, struggling to rebuild my “life,” Dad kept bringing up windows—something he’d been doing as a hobby since 1982, forty years of helping friends and neighbors here and there. But honestly? I had zero interest and couldn’t see the bigger picture yet.
The real breakthrough—understanding what was actually broken and how to fix it? That came later, when life stripped away every excuse.
Then 2018 happened, and everything clicked. While serving as VP of Strategic Partnerships at a production company, we landed Green Attics—a local home energy efficiency company—as a client. Diving deep into research for their marketing videos, I had my lightbulb moment: every single house in our area was the perfect customer for Dad’s 40-year window business, the very opportunity I’d been too cool to consider.
And not just that—around the same time, I was watching new smartphone apps pop up everywhere proclaiming “Business owners! Make your own marketing videos!” I had the foresight to see a massive shift coming in video production. And last I’d checked, apps weren’t installing windows, and I was pretty sure I wasn’t going to live to see robots doing it either.
What started as a strategic business pivot became the catalyst for something I never saw coming—not just a legacy to honor, but a complete transformation from serving self to serving others. The window business didn’t just change my career; it awakened something in me I never knew existed.
Windows to a Better Life is the raw, funny, and real story of how I went from Hollywood music executive to North Texas window guy. It’s about breakdown becoming breakthrough, finding purpose in unexpected places, and discovering that sometimes you have to lose everything to see clearly.
In 2022, when I finally implemented the strategy I’d developed during my darkest period, we built almost a million-dollar business in just one year. When Dad started having concerning health issues and explosive growth threatened to overwhelm us, I made the smartest decision of my entrepreneurial life to date—I sold to Jordan Reilly, a former tech executive who could scale our vision beyond what I ever could alone. Not because I was giving up, but because I finally understood something profound about legacy—sometimes the greatest act of leadership is knowing when to hand the wheel to someone who can take your vision further than you ever could.
Part memoir, part business story, all heart. This is what happens when you choose service over self and let faith frame every decision. Because we’re not really in the window business—we’re in the transformation business. And every installation is proof that broken things can be made beautiful again.
What You’ll Discover:
- The real ROI of transformation (it’s not what you think)
- Why clarity changes everything (in windows and in life)
- How to turn breakdown into breakthrough
- The power of service over self
- What makes a house feel like home (hint: it’s not the windows)
- Faith in the frame (and in the journey)
- Why knowing when to hand the wheel to someone else might be your smartest move
Early Praise
“Lyndol’s stories, infused with faith and family, draw you in until somehow you’re excited to keep reading about… windows! That’s exactly what happened to me. Through his words, you’ll gain a renewed perspective—educated about windows, yes, but also inspired by his journey.”
— Elizabeth B. Mahusay Executive Business Coach & International Best-Selling Author
“Lyndol tells his story of high flying stardom rising, losing it all, and mapping out redemption. Much like Hugh Jackman and the story of PT Barnum in Greatest Showman: this story’s got Hollywood, soulful roots, hitting rock bottom in a big city fashion (on borrowed money), and emerging a new, humble, hungry, and honorable second act.
If you like Chip Gaines, Donald Miller, and Bob Goff, you’ll find a little bit of Fixer Upper, purpose through storytelling and whimsical second career magic through this book.
Hear from an every day superhero and millionaire next door story and be inspired to ground yourself in avoiding the world’s push to show out to chase, to compete, and to compare vs. taking on the challenge to show up with care, with courage, and with consistency for those who matter most.”
— Sawyer Knight, Marketer and Woodruff Windows Happy Customer
“I could go on and on for a week about the challenges of the past, recovery nightmares, and
glorious redemption. But I won’t. Just trust me when I say, the stories are true, the struggles real,
and salvation through Jesus Christ brings about miraculous possibilities—which have evolved
into magnificent reality. Watching Lyndol care for his young daughter against tremendous odds
while building a business has been truly amazing. You can experience this same exhilaration
through the pages of this book!“
— Kathleen Rigdon Highley, Lyndol’s mom and Christian Fiction Novelist
“Lyndol’s book was a powerful commentary on how we all should approach business and relationships; with purpose, integrity and heart. This is not a book about windows, but a book about a calling to engage more meaningfully with the world around us. It’s a great reminder that we ALL have purpose, no matter how ordinary or unglamorous our day job may seem.”
— Abigail Rippee, Director, The Table McKinney
